Advent Tea & Angel Tree

Hello Morehead Family,

I have been reflecting this week on the success of the Advent Tea that took place on Sunday. Many thanks are owed to those who organized, cooked, decorated, and all the other tasks that go into making an event happen. It was wonderful to see the many faces from the community who were here as guests, extended family, and friends from our collaborative church of St. Timothys. Rev. Rice led us through a devotion that moved us into thinking about the elements of Advent and what they mean to us in this season. At the end of the tea, Beth English read a prayer that she wrote. Her prayer seemed to capture the essence of the devotion and the hope that exists in this season. I hope you enjoy her prayer as much as we who were gathered there did. Below you will find Beth's prayer.

"Heavenly father, you have shown yourself to be faithful to your promises. You sent your Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our savior. Quiet our minds today and the days to come, that we might in faith, remain focused on the coming of our savior. Bless our time together today that we may be strengthened and inspired by your Holy Word and by the fellowship we enjoy with one another. May all that we do and say be to your glory, honor, and praise. Through Jesus Christ, your Son, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God. Now and forever. Amen"

In addition, Renee Dixon, Rev. Rice and myself had the honor of delivering the gifts from the angel tree to Jefferson Elementary this morning. A special thank you is owed to Renee, not just for her organizing of this event, but for her heart which carries a great level of compassion for the members of this community. Below, you will also find pictures demonstrating the great hearts of generosity that the Morehead family showed during this season.

Blessings,

Paul M. Freeman
